Cedar Creek Waterway —

A plan to create a biking/hiking trail using recycled water along Cedar Creek. Lots of potential for economic development and improved quality of life in Abilene. Park spaces, ponds and waterfalls are planned along the route. Apparently citizen-led and volunteer-driven at this stage (in October 2013).

Springboard Ideas Challenge —

A competition for budding entrepreneurs. Designed to promote and encourage mini-business development in Abilene. College or community categories for entry. Significant cash and in-kind prizes. Submit a written plan first, then present ideas to a live panel of judges.

Texas Tech Small Business Development Center —

According to their website, they provide  “counseling, technical assistance, training workshops and reference resources for small businesses and entrepreneurs.”
